Revised May 2006
The Microsoft Windows SharePoint Services V3 (Beta) Software Development Kit (SDK) is a preliminary release for Microsoft Windows SharePoint Services (version 3) and includes preliminary documentation, as well as some code examples within the topics.
The SDK describes the technologies that Windows SharePoint Services V3 provides for developers. It contains overview information and step-by-step, how-to procedures for programming with Windows SharePoint Services V3 and helps you find what you need to start writing applications. There are several code examples within the documentation as well as some tips and best practices for using the development platform of Windows SharePoint Services V3.
This SDK is a work in progress. Each release of the SDK will contain more documentation, and by the final release of the product, the SDK will contain most of the highest-priority documentation. After the initial product release, you can check for SDK updates and technical articles on MSDN. Some of the topics we list below are more or less complete than others—the intent is to provide as much information as is currently available.
After installing the SDK, those new to Microsoft SharePoint Products and Technologies should start with the What's New in Windows SharePoint Services (version 3) section of the SDK. In addition to the overview information found there, we have targeted the following new areas for this release of the SDK.
